Field Trip to Peninsula Hotel: A Hands-On Lesson in Five-Star Service

On April 17, 2026, Prof. Li Bin and Prof. Sophie Zhang led a group of international students on a field trip to the Peninsula Hotel in Beijing. The hotel's administrative staff shared valuable insights into luxury hospitality operations, along with a live demonstration of drink preparation. Students had the chance to sample the drinks and snacks, tour the iconic property, and learn firsthand how heritage and high-end service come together.
Located in the heart of Wangfujing, the Peninsula Beijing first opened in 1989 as one of the city's pioneering five-star hotels. Today, it is known for its all-suite accommodations (starting at 65 square meters), modern in-room technology, and cultural offerings like the Peninsula Academy. The visit gave students a rare behind-the-scenes look—from food and beverage service to hotel management—making for an engaging and educational experience at one of the capital's most prestigious addresses.
